Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions do you treat at the Neurology Clinic?

At Lake District Neurology, we specialise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of neurological conditions, with a particular focus on headaches, migraines, and other chronic pain disorders. We also manage conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy, and other neurological disorders that affect the brain, spine, and nerves. Our goal is to provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

How can I book an appointment with the Consultant Neurologist?

You can enquire for an appointment by using our online appointment enquiry form available on our website. Alternatively, your GP can email us your referral to our admin@lakedistrictneurology.org email. A member of our admin team will then be in touch within two working days. We strive to offer timely appointments to ensure you receive the care you need as soon as possible.

What should I expect during my first consultation?

During your first consultation, our Consultant Neurologist will take a detailed medical history and discuss your symptoms in depth. You may undergo a physical examination, and if necessary, we will recommend further diagnostic tests such as an MRI, CT scan, or electrophysiological studies like EMG and NCS. Our goal is to understand your condition thoroughly and develop a personalised treatment plan that addresses your specific needs.

What treatments do you offer for headaches and migraines?

Our clinic provides a range of advanced treatments for headaches and migraines. These include injectable therapies such as Greater Occipital Nerve Block, Multiple Cranial Nerve Blocks, Injectable Monoclonal Antibodies and Botox. We also offer advice on non-invasive treatment devices like GammaCore, Cefaly, and soon, Relivion, which are designed to reduce the frequency and severity of headache and migraine. Each treatment is tailored to your specific condition and needs, with the goal of improving your quality of life.

Are the treatments you offer covered by insurance?

Invoices are sent directly to patients for billing purposes. We do not handle transactions with insurance companies; however, you may be able to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider after payment. While many of the treatments we offer are covered by insurance, coverage details can vary based on your specific policy and provider. We recommend contacting your insurance company to verify what is included in your plan.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

To prepare for your appointment, we recommend that you bring a list of your current medications, any relevant medical records, and a detailed history of your symptoms, including when they began and any factors that seem to trigger or alleviate them. It can also be helpful to jot down any questions or concerns you have in advance, so you can make the most of your consultation.
